New Release Music Tuesday

Aright folks, here it is, this weeks New Release Tuesday music pick.  Weezer an alternative rock band hailing from Los Angeles that  came together in the 1990’s has released their 7th Studio album “Raditude”.

The band is known for their oddball charm and California surfer type music with various hit singles “Buddy Holly,” “Undone – The Sweater Song”, “Island in the Sun”, “Hash Pipe”, “Beverly Hills” and “Pork and Beans”.  Their success has allowed them to achieved a sort of cult status and extensive fan base.

The new album is by far no tribute to their first two albums “Weezer” and “Pinkerton”, which were probably the most synonymous with the bands musical style.   The bands direction on their new album has taken a turn towards today’s poppy radio sound.  Many die-hard fans may not like their betrayal to the essence of what has made the band so successful, but as a person who loves music (any genre), I must say I do like it.  It is definitely not Weezer’s best album, but it is good.  “Can’t Stop Partying”, featuring Lil Wayne  talks about slaying honeys in the club while downing Patron shots will have you thinking Rivers Cuomo has multiple personalities in this song.  Their first single of the album “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” offers gum-snapping pop-punk sounds along with some of the same guitar riffs.

My top two picks:

“Can’t Stop Partying”, featuring Lil Wayne – This is not the official video.

“(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”
