TGIFTune

It’s Halloween weekend! Get in!! So for this weeks weekend anthem who better than the Brooklyn boys that love a costume or two!?

Beastie Boys

The Beastie Boys are one of the longest lived hip hop acts worldwide, not bad for 3 Jewish kids from Brooklyn, NY that started off as a hardcore punk group in 1979! They soon made the switched to hip hop and hooked up with Def Jam’s founder and CEO Rick Rubin. Beastie Boys released Cooky Puss and Rock Hard EP’s in 1984. Both creating a huge wave of admirers and setting up tours with Madonna, Run DMC and LL Cool J. Their next step would change hip hop and the world forever, Licensed To Ill (1986). Licensed To Ill was the first rap album to reach #1 in the Billboard charts and stayed there for 5 weeks! It also reached #2 in the Urban charts and was the best-selling rap album of the 80’s.

From Fight For Your Right to No sleep till Brooklyn to their newer tracks like Check It Out the ‘Beasties’ have been doing the business. I also love their creativeness in their interviews and videos. Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch, and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz always show they know how to have a laugh, not take life too serious and enjoy the moment.

First track up Sabotage (Vic Colfari aka Bobby ‘The Rookie’ was the inspiration for my Halloween costume this year).

Next up another Halloweenish style video Intergalactic.

Have fun whatever you get up to, just remember to check under that mask before making any decisions!
